University of New Brunswick & Atlantic Council of Engineering Students

2010 Atlantic Engineering Competition: Between 100 and 200 young engineers from all 4 Atlantic provinces test their skills in problem solving, design, innovation, and communication through 6 different competitions during the weekend.

Students of UNB’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Departments

2010 UNB Robotics Competition: 16 teams comprised of high school and 1st year engineering students design and construct a robot to compete in a task-oriented challenge.

UdeM IIE student chapter

National Congress of Industrial Engineers: 7 students from the Université de Moncton’s engineering faculty travelled to the University of Windsor, Ontario, to participate in workshops and compete in design and research paper competitions.

AGS Annual Meeting

2010 Annual Colloquium: Held in Wolfville, the event attracted 150 geoscientists from government, industry and academia.

APEGNB Moncton Branch

Greater Moncton Lego Mindstorms Competition: 200 elementary school students learn about engineering, teamwork, and problem-solving as they present their Lego Mindstorms Robotics project. APEGNB supplied the prizes and publicity for the event.

UNB geoscience & geoengineering students

2010 Prospectors & Developers Association Conference: 10 students from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) attended the 5-day annual industry/government conference in Toronto.

Joel Vallée— (Mondiale Solidarite)

Peru Construction Project: Joel Vallée, civil engineering student at the Université de Moncton. Is a volunteer with Mondial Solidarité—a humanitarian organization that contributes to international sustainable development in third world countries. Joel participated in a construction project in the Cuzco region of Peru from May 2 to 22, 2010.

Geoscientists Canada
Canadian Earth Science Teacher Workshop Program: APEGNB sponsored a science teacher from New Brunswick to travel and attend a special teacher training workshop and field trip held May 8 and 9 in Calgary in conjunction with GeoCanada.
UNB engineering students
National Concrete Canoe Competition: 12 university teams, including an APEGNB-sponsored team from UNB, took part in the May 2010 event in Toronto. Teams competed to design and build the lightest canoe possible while making sure it’s strong enough to withstand internal/external forces.
UdeM electrical engineering students

Groupe Equinoxe Solar Powered Car: A team of electrical engineering students from the Université de Moncton, along with their professors, designed and built a solar-powered car.

Science East

2010 New Brunswick Science Fairs: Science East used APEGNB’s funding to help offset the costs hosting three regional science fairs and pay for prizes.

Université de Moncton

Club Eurêka presents scientific and technical activities to New Brunswick girls in Grades 3 to 6. These lunch-hour activities are designed to create greater awareness of engineering and to promote science and math literacy to young girls. In 2009-2010, 155 girls from 4 schools joined Club Eurêka.

U de M engineering students

Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition: APEGNB helped offset the travel costs associated with the Université de Moncton sending a team to compete in the three-day event held at the University of Toronto.

UNB geology students

Silver Standard McAllister Field Trip: APEGNB funding allowed nine UNB students to participate in a geology field trip in New Mexico and Arizona May 15-27, 2010.

Fredericton High School

RobotsEAST: A 15-person team from Fredericton High School used the money received from APEGNB to offset the costs of travelling to Dalhousie University on to participate in the 2010 RobotsEAST competition.
