Two Candidates for Councillor At-Large: Maryse Doucet, P.Eng., FEC, MBA and Katie Steeves, P.Eng.
Maryse Doucet, P.Eng., FEC, MBA
It’s with great pride and enthusiasm that I offer to serve again as Moncton Councillor (At-Large). Over the years, I have had the privilege to hold various positions at the local Branch level (Secretary, Communications, Vice-President and President) from 2005 to 2009, as well as Moncton Councillor at the provincial level representing the Moncton District from 2009 to 2015, and again from 2018 to 2019. Serving on the Moncton Branch and provincial Councils has enabled me to have an excellent understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our professions. Specifically, the changes in technology, as well as ever-evolving laws, will continue to make lasting changes to our professions and how we execute self-regulation. Thus, self-regulation has never been more important. I want to continue to work to ensure that our professions grow and prosper while evolving to ensure all professional engineers and geoscientists carry out the responsibilities and duties that we have undertaken in our professions.
I do look forward to contributing to our Association’s ongoing progress while continuing to instill the core values that made the Association what it is today. Protecting the public interest, promoting the Association and professions, as well as engaging youth in the engineers and geoscientists careers, are in my opinion amongst the key items we need to focus on.
My academic background in industrial engineering and business, as well as my professional work experience in the field of transportation, have really allowed me to build a solid foundation over the last 16 years. Combined with my active participation on the Board of Directors of a local homeless shelter (House of Nazareth) since 2012, I believe I’m well equipped to be a resourceful asset to Council.

Katie Steeves, P.Eng.
Katie graduated from Civil Engineering at Dalhousie University in 2016 and began working in the field of construction with Dexter Construction. In 2019 she made a shift to consulting and began working with CBCL Limited in Saint John.
While at Dalhousie University she was heavily involved in extracurricular activities and represented the Civil Engineering students as President of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Society and President of the Dalhousie Student Chapter for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineers (CSCE). Katie also took on roles as VP Logistics for the Atlantic Engineering Competition, and VP Competitions for the Women in Engineering GOENGGIRL event.
Following graduation, she joined the Association as a Member-in-Training and has been focusing on her career.
Katie has always valued the importance of extra-curricular involvement and is hoping to increase her participation in the Association as Councillor At-Large. As a new graduate and a new P.Eng., she believes that she would be an ideal candidate to help engage new members in the Association. She believes it’s important to contribute to the profession and wishes to do so by representing the interests of the members at Council.
