Become a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in NB

To become a registered P.Eng. or P.Geo in New Brunswick you must:

  • Be academically qualified: You must have graduated with a CEAB-accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree or a Bachelor of Science degree in geosciences from a Canadian university which meets Geoscientists Canada’s Geoscience Knowledge & Experience Requirements.
  • Have obtained at least 48 months of acceptable engineering or geoscience work experience in your field of study: You must demonstrate forty-eight (48) months of acceptable engineering or geoscience experience which can be attested to by your supervising P.Eng. or P.Geo. The Competency-Based Assessment allows applicants to demonstrate work experience.
  • Be a resident of NB (or be an MIT with APEGNB who has since moved elsewhere in Canada)
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English or French: If your bachelor’s degree was taken in English or French, you are exempted from providing further proof to your language ability. If your bachelor’s degree was not taken in English or French, there are multiple ways you can demonstrate that you can communicate effectively. Contact APEGNB for more information on language requirements.
  • Understand local practices and conditions, be of good character, and demonstrate an understanding of professional practice and ethics: All applicants must write and pass the Canadian National Professional Practice Exam (NPPE) or its equivalent.

Use the quiz below to ensure you are eligible for this type of membership and to access the online application form. Please note you must ensure you have all supporting documents for your application.
