APEGNB Membership Types

To become registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, you must first determine your Applicant Type. Follow the links associated with each type below to learn more.

Professional Member

This type of member has the experience and education to practice engineering and/or geoscience without limitation. This member is designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.), or both. Professional members must meet certain criteria. Click here to find out more.

  • If you are a Registered Professional elsewhere in Canada moving to New Brunswick and providing engineering/geoscience services for application in NB, you may become a Professional Member.
  • If your bachelor’s degree was obtained outside of Canada, we must first assess your education to make sure it meets our academic requirements. Learn more.
Licensee (non-resident of New Brunswick)

This member has met all requirements for an engineering or geoscience licence, but is not a permanent resident of New Brunswick. They will however be providing engineering/geoscience services for application in NB. This member type is known as a Non-Resident Licencee.

Please note that if you will be practicing engineering or geoscience in the name of a company in New Brunswick, for application in New Brunswick, or affecting the public safety of New Brunswick, the company must be registered with APEGNB. Therefore you will require a Certificate of Authorization.

Member-in-Training

These members have met academic requirements but need more work experience to qualify for full membership. They are designated as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT), or both. Members-in-training cannot practice engineering or geoscience independently. Learn more.
